Description
KM3NeT, a future European deep-sea research infrastructure, will host a network of neutrino telescopes with a combined volume of several cubic kilometres at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea that will open a new window on the Universe. The telescope will search for neutrinos from distant astrophysical sources like Super Nova Remnants, Gamma Ray Bursts, Active Galactic Nuclei and other. It will also be used to search for dark matter in the Universe. An array of thousands of optical sensors will detect the faint light in the deep sea from charged particles originating from collisions of neutrinos and sea water. The goal of the VO is to enable the usage of Grid resources for KM3NeT collaboration members, mainly for simulation and reconstruction of signal and background events.
