Description
Scientific target: detection of gravitational waves. Gravitational waves are predicted by the General Theory of Relativity but still not directly detected due to their extremely weak interaction with matter. Large interferometric detectors, like Virgo, are operating with the aim of directly detecting gravitational signals from various astrophysical sources. Signals are expected to be deeply buried into detector noise and suitable data analysis algorithm are developed in order to allow detection and signal parameter estimation. For many kind of searches large computing resources are needed and in some important cases we are computationally bound: the larger is the available computing power and the wider is the portion of source parameter space that can be explored.
VO target: to allow data management and computationally intensive data analysis
